”Mission’s 778X is a superb integrated amplifier with a wonderfully balanced sound and a comprehensive spec sheet.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ – 5 Star review.
The compact amp with a big heart
At around half the width of regular amps, the Mission 778X is perfect for tighter spaces or for when you simply want a less intrusive system. It might be small but that hasn’t stopped Mission from packing it full of handy features. Bluetooth, turntable, digital and analogue inputs mean that you can connect everything from your turntable to TV. With 45 watts per channel power output, it’s every bit as punchy as a typical full-size amp around this price, too.
Mission signature sound
Just like Mission’s speakers, the 778X turns its hand to all music genres, producing a detailed, foot-tapping response. The perfectly balanced sonic signature suits Classical music just as well as rock, pop and dance, making it the perfect choice for anyone with a wide interest in different types of music. With 45 watts per channel, there’s ample power for most rooms and tastes.
Hi-Res music playback
With the superb ESS Sabre32 Reference DAC at its heart, the 778X also handles your hi-res music files with aplomb. Use the USB PC input and the Mission decodes right up to studio quality 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256. With the optical and coaxial inputs, the hi-res music capacity is a still impressive 24-bit/192kHz – the usual standard for most hi-res music files.
Bluetooth for wireless sound
For wireless streaming, the 778X also comes with built-in Bluetooth. Compatible with aptX and AAC, the Mission offers the potential for CD quality Bluetooth streaming. Simply pair with your smartphone, tablet or other device and stream your stored music and favourite music services, such as Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music.
Full digital connectivity
Helping you make the most of your hi-res and digital components, the 778X features a wide array of digital sockets. Choose between USB, coaxial and two optical connections for your inputs – ideal for a computer, TV, Blu-ray/DVD/CD player, network streamer and many other devices with a digital output. There are also optical and coaxial digital outputs, making this amp perfect for digital recorders or digital multiroom feeds.
Connect analogue sources
The 778X hasn’t forgotten about your analogue sources, either. Twin RCA inputs are perfect for plugging in sources such as a tuner, cassette player or any other source with an analogue output. With its pre-amp output, you can also connect to a higher spec power amp, as a future upgrade.
Bring out your vinyl
For Moving Magnet equipped turntables, the 778X comes fitted with a built-in phono pre-amp. Much more than just a ‘spec filler’, the low-noise, JFET-based circuit with precise RIAA equalisation gets the very best from your turntable’s sound. Low distortion and a wide frequency response mean you get to hear the most subtle details with crystalline clarity.
High quality headphone output
Like the phono pre-amp, the headphone output is carefully and skilfully developed. The 778X features a dedicated headphone amp with a high slew rate. This gives you sound quality that’s much more powerful and three-dimensional than you’d usually get with most standard headphone outputs. It also drives a wide range of headphones with ease – even if they’re current-hungry designs.
Make it your mission to get a quality amp at the heart of your system, with the versatile 778X.
